Entitled “Giver of Life” (March 2024, mixed media. Pen, ink, watercolour, letterpress and linocut. All on German Hahnemuhle and Arches fine French paper.) With this theme, I tried to explore meaning and metaphor in both the idea and physical structure of the entire piece itself. Using a “triptych” style as well as hints of iconography playing on the trilogy of images. I feel grateful to have been asked to take part in this exhibition. *Theme drawn from Julian of Norwich. Here’s one of the wonderful images she shared in her work Revelations of Divine Love: “He showed me something small, no bigger than a hazelnut, lying in the palm of my hand… I looked at it, and thought: What can this be? And I was given this general answer: it is everything which is made. I was amazed that it could last, for I thought, it was so little, that it could suddenly fall into nothing. It is now (June 2024) part of a year-long research project, called ‘The Artists Project’ led by Dr Pavlína Marie Kašparová in collaboration with Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology and University of Birmingham. It explores ways of thinking and interpretations of art and faith through each individual.
