This book was a labour of love from its inception in 2016. I created the first version of this book for my then two children after falling in love with traditional printmaking. Child number three came along, and since no book had been done in his honour, a new book had to be created! Our family loves critters, creatures and generally the living world as a whole. The odder these creatures are the better! The animals in this book are ones our entire family is fond of: having either seen or been fascinated by each one. The images in this book were initially created using a type of printmaking called linocut then hand painted in watercolour. Each animal comes with a brief story filled with facts and maybe some words that are new to you. In the back is a map that shows where each creature might be found, connecting the creature descriptions with geography to help the reader’s curiosity take hold. I hope you enjoy this little book. I am personally grateful to anyone who finds joy in this little project that was originally made just for my family. To share this with you makes it even more awesome! As well as the book, I also sell digital copies of each of the animals in the book. I sell each print on A3 formatted paper (Printed sustainably on Beluga White Heavy paper 350gsm A3 (297mm x 420mm). This is done by the fabulous by Print.Work in Leeds, UK.
